Dados los desafíos actuales y futuros que el Uruguay enfrenta debido a la variabilidad climática y la presión económica, el manejo de los recursos hídricos en los sectores agropecuario y forestal serán cruciales. El INIA deberá cumplir con el rol esencial de apoyar a los agricultores, productores forestales e instituciones públicas para enfrentar este desafío mediante el establecimiento de la investigación necesaria y el fortalecimiento de las capacidades existentes. Este proyecto contribuirá al manejo sostenible del agua de las siguientes maneras:
- informando decisiones a nivel de establecimiento que apoyen la intensificación sostenible de la producción agropecuaria y forestal;
- apoyando el desarrollo de políticas públicas a nivel de cuencas;
- contribuyendo con la identificación del papel que cumple el INIA en la investigación y el fortalecimiento del área general del manejo sostenible del agua.
Given the current and future challenges that Uruguay faces due to climate variability and economic pressure, the management of water resources in the agricultural and forestry sectors will be crucial. INIA supports farmers, forest producers and public institutions to face this challenge by establishing the necessary research and strengthening existing capacities. This project will contribute to sustainable water management in the following: 1.informing decisions at the farm level that support the sustainable intensification of agricultural and forestry production; 2.supporting the development of public policies at the basin level; 3.contributing to the identification of the role played by INIA in research and strengthening sustainable water management
